Welcome

I am a graduate student in Central Washington University’s Master of Arts in teaching program with an endorsement in music. As part of this process, I have created this website to act as a portfolio showcasing my work in developing skills related to the 10 INTASC Standards. Many of the artifacts come from my time as a student teacher and years prior teaching general music in the Wapato School district.

A bit about me: I came into this program as a Alternative Route 4.  My passion for music started when I was in junior high. From that point, it lead me to received my B.A. in Music with an emphasis in Education at Eastern Oregon University in 2015.  In 2017, my former music teacher and dear friend asked me if I could be a long-term substitute due to him, dealing some health issues.  I jumped to the occasion.  Through this experience, it emphasized that being a music teacher was the career for me.

My first year of teaching was 2019-2020.  As you can imagine, my first step in the field of education would be the one for the history books.  Dealing with the pandemic and worldwide shutdown in March of 2020 , I had given birth to my first child the month prior. I was determine to be there for my students while navigating the world of being a first time parent.

During my student teaching, I was the K-2 Music Specialist at Camas Elementary School.  I am thankful of the knowledge that I have gained from participating in the MAT program and implementing those practices within my classroom. Welcome to my journey.
